Park district levy improve thought of for main bike path repairs

NEWARK — County officers mentioned rising the prevailing park district levy to arrange for potential main repairs or reconstruction of the Newark-to-Johnstown bike path.

The Licking County Commissioners and Licking Park District officers mentioned Monday in a particular assembly of the commissioners what would occur if floods washed away a part of the T.J. Evans Bike Path, requiring rebuilding of the trail.

Via the years, flood waters and downed bushes have pressured minor repairs to the Newark-to-Johnstown path, opened in 1987, and different bike paths within the county.

Jim Kiracofe, chairman of Licking Park District Board, instructed the commissioners, “There could be someday we’d have that half-mile washout or a serious bridge goes down and we’re half one million {dollars} or some amount of cash that’s going to be a problem for each the commissioners and park board to give you in a brief period of time.”
